Turmeric for a Bangladeshi bride

Other than being used in curries and things Bangladeshi people use turmeric as part of their wedding process. And as a Bangladeshi woman getting married in Bangladesh, I experienced the full thing. A few of my female relatives gathered around me when they were preparing me to get married on the morning of my wedding day.
And just before they dressed me in my wedding clothes and things, they took me out towards the back where the bathroom was, and they started putting turmeric paste over my face and arms.
It was to make me look nicer and make me look beautiful and pretty. It's all part and parcel of making women look prettier for their husband for their wedding.
