Neem tree

There used to be a big neem tree on the outskirts of every village in India. The leaves have great medicinal value. The tree gives cool shade during scorching heat in the summer.
Village people keep leaves in barrels of wheat grains, so that the grains do not get infected, neem also keeps termites away.
It is said that very poor children do not get infected by mosquitoes if their mother puts neem leaves on them. Also the branches are tied to the bed and entrance door when a child suffers from measles or chickenpox. Its usages are innumerable.
This story was collected by the Museum of London at workshops with the Shravika Satsang Mandal group based at Dennis Jackson Community Centre,Wembley.
