Coconut has many uses
Devika Rawal
First we use coconut in weddings and religious ceremonies. In India during a wedding, when the groom goes to the bride's house, he rides on a horse holding a coconut in both hands.
When people move to a new house, they first put a coconut, red powder and rice in the house and then move in.
In the temple also, people go with a coconut and flowers, and break the coconut in front of the god and distribute the pieces to the congregation as an offering.
Inside the coconut there is water and it is very sweet and tasty. It is good for flushing toxins from the body. We make milk from squeezing a grated coconut and use it in curries. We make chutney from grated coconut with add coriander, green chillies and raw mango. We also make sweets from grated coconut, like fudge, cake and biscuits.
