Line engraving on paper. A banyan tree growing on a palmyra palm (Borassus flabellifer L. ), sheltering two people. The banyan tree is sacred to the Hindus and is used for shelter. The palmyra palm is grown for its timber, fibre, leaves, sap (toddy) and edible fruit. The lettering reads; the wedded banian tree, or the palmyra and burr tree united, drawn on salsette.
