Since Rama was a royal prince, this 18th century copy is lavishly illustrated with scenes of feasting and ceremonial. In this image, courtly ladies and gentlemen sit down to partake of a grand feast. Rows of beautifully attired men and women sit in long rows on terraces, the two sexes in separate enclosures. Serving men and women ladle out rice onto leaf plates set in front of each person, and filled with a variety of dishes.
