Coconut at Sikh weddings

Seemberjit Kaur
Coconut is actually tied on the brides hands, on the wrist, its part of the decoration on the wedding day and it can also be used for when the actual groom and bride come in to the parent's house the next day. He's actually got to put the coconut on his wrist its split in half and he's got to try and keep the coconut steady on his hands. It is actually a fresh coconut its just split in half, and its placed on top of his hands and he's got to balance its just something that you've got to do which is part of the culture. It's got to test his intelligence a bit whether he can balance the two coconuts. I went on a friends wedding and it was done there you see, and he was quite successful in balancing them both!
