Click here for more detailsThe Colonial and Indian Exhibition took place at South Kensington in London in 1886. This oilcake was displayed in the Indian Economic Court at the Exhibition which was organised by the Government of India. The Museum of Economic Botany at Kew received over 1,000 specimens from the Colonial and Indian Exhibition. At the time this oilcake was acquired for the exhibition the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India was known as Madras, Madras is the name now used for the state's capital.
