Click here for more detailsCutters like these were used to slice betel nuts, which were then chewed as a stimulant. One of these betel nut cutters is from Agra, India and was given to the British Pharmaceutical Society by HB Brady in about 1880. The other was made by a Chinese blacksmith and used by poorer people and was donated to the Society by CT Johnson around 1907. Unfortunately we do not know which cutter is which.
