Click here for more detailsThe rope here has been made from the bark of the banyan tree. The fibres show the bark strips before they were plaited. They were collected in Berar when Berar was a province in British India, today it is part of Madhya Pradesh. It came to Kew as part of a large donation of woods, gums, resins, fruits and fibres from the Government of India's Forest Department.
