New Walk Museum and Art Gallery is one of the premier museums in the region.

Opening in 2005, a new decorative arts gallery will provide insights into the vast range of human creativity and skill which has gone into making and decorating objects across the world. The main focus will be the museum's world culture and decorative arts collections and will also include a range of material loaned through our partnership with the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum.

Leicester is one of the most diverse cities in Britain with a remarkable mix of different cultures, faiths and wide-ranging interests. Gallery Nine provides a space for communities to work together with the museum to present their own exhibitions and tell their own stories. Past community exhibitions have included 'A Taste of Leicester' looking at the development of Asian food in the city, and 'Colours of Islam' looking at the lives of Muslims in Leicester. There is a changing programme of three exhibitions a year.
