Explore - Ashmolean Museum, Oxford
The Ashmolean is the oldest museum in Britain - and the most important museum of art and archaeology outside London. The Indian collections at the Ashmolean Museum are of international importance. The collection was started as long ago as 1686, and has continued to grow. The Heberden Coin Room, also at the Ashmolean, has an interesting collection of Indian coins. (Due to a major development project at the Ashmolean, partial gallery closure will occur on a rolling schedule, through 2005.)
